To compare the effects of three (3) over-the-counter toothpastes on your teeth cleaning and gum symptoms (gingivitis/plaque).
Do you have gum symptoms like bleeding and sore gums when you brush your teeth? If so, you are among the three out of four Californians with gum symptoms. If you have these symptoms, you may be eligible to participate in a research study to determine whether a new over-the-counter toothpaste can reduce your gum symptoms. The cause of the symptoms does not matter, as long as you are otherwise in reasonably good health.
In this clinical research, we will provide you with toothpaste and determine the health of your gums over four (4) visits within a 180-day time frame. We will evaluate the health of your gums using a clinical exam and possibly imaging that collects a weak light signal reflected off your gums. If you are assigned to the study, you will be required to return for three (3) visits for a duration of 21 days.
Because this is a research study, we do not know whether use of the toothpaste will help your gum symptoms (gingivitis/plaque). Your participation in this research will help us to determine whether these toothpastes are effective in reducing the symptoms of your gums (gingivitis/plaque).
If you are found eligible for this study, you will be compensated for your participation time at each visit.
