Dr. Mehraneh Jafari is a board-certified UCI Health colon and rectal surgeon who specializes in diseases and disorders of the lower gastrointestinal tract.
Jafari’s clinical interests include: colon, rectal, anal and appendiceal cancer; abdominal mesothelioma; peritoneal surface disease; hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC); Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis; diverticulitis, rectal prolapse; sphincter salvage for rectal cancer, and anal fissures, fistulas and hemorrhoids. She also specializes in minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgical approaches to colon and rectal surgery, as well as multidisciplinary treatments for advanced colon and rectal cancer.
Jafari earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, followed by a residency in general surgery at UCI School of Medicine in Irvine. She completed a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
