Dr. Kari J. Nelson is a board-certified UCI Health radiologist who specializes in vascular and interventional radiology. Her focus is on the treatment of vascular disease and vascular malformations, as well as minimally invasive cancer treatments.
Nelson earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed a residency in radiology at the University of Virginia and fellowships in vascular and interventional radiology at UC San Diego and in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging at UCI Medical Center.
Nelson began her medical career as an assistant professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine. She subsequently entered private practice in Santa Fe, NM, followed by a managed-care practice in the San Francisco Bay area. She returned to her native Orange County in 2013 to join UCI Health as an attending physician in vascular and interventional radiology while completing her fellowship in cardiovascular and thoracic imaging.
