Dr. Cathy Tang is a fellowship-trained UCI Health plastic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery. Her areas of clinical expertise also include breast surgery, cancer and trauma reconstruction, body-contouring surgery and free tissue transfer.
Tang earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed a residency in general medicine at UCSF School of Medicine, a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at UCLA School of Medicine and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
Tang’s research interests include peripheral nerve, targeted muscle reinnervation, Dupuytren’s contracture, microvascular surgery, endoscopic procedures, arthritis and trauma. An assistant professor in the UCI School of Medicine’s Department of Plastic Surgery, she directs the department’s medical student clerkship program.
