During Your Stay in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit
The length of time you spend in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit is based on your specific needs and rehabilitative progress. Although the average length of stay is 7-14 days, your team will determine your specific length of stay and regularly review your progress.
Here's what you can expect during your time in the Acute Rehabilitation Unit.
You will have at least three hours of daily therapy, with each session lasting 45 minutes. Each morning, you will receive your therapy schedule. Sessions occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday is reserved as your day off from scheduled therapy.
Therapy is tailored to your goals and specific needs.
Your family and/or caregivers are expected to be involved in your therapy sessions. Participation and training with your visitors is extremely valuable in therapy and can lead to a successful recovery.
You will wear your own comfortable clothes, socks and tennis shoes. You should be dressed and out of bed for the majority of the day. Because your goal is to build up your strength, we encourage participation in activities throughout your program. Please note that no laundry services are provided.
You will eat all meals while sitting up in the dining room. It is not safe or therapeutic to eat in bed.
Toiletries and personal items
Bring items such as glasses, dentures, toiletries (for example, brush, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, etc.), pictures, blankets or other items that will help you feel more comfortable during your stay. Wi-Fi is available for your technology needs.
