Okay. 00:01:02:20 - 00:01:03:16 Really 00:01:03:16 - 00:01:05:14 the simplest way to think about it is 00:01:05:14 - 00:01:08:14 do I think I need to stay in a hospital, 00:01:08:14 - 00:01:10:14 or do I think that I need surgery 00:01:10:14 - 00:01:11:11 like today, 00:01:11:11 - 00:01:12:09 like I have a problem 00:01:12:09 - 00:01:13:22 that I need addressed today? 00:01:13:22 - 00:01:14:17 Emergency departments 00:01:14:17 - 00:01:16:00 are going to be the best place for you. 00:01:16:00 - 00:01:16:08 Right. 00:01:16:08 - 00:01:17:17 A lot of other things can be addressed 00:01:17:17 - 00:01:18:13 in the urgent care. 00:01:18:13 - 00:01:20:23 This might be a really strange question. 00:01:20:23 - 00:01:22:13 Did we have urgent cares 00:01:22:13 - 00:01:23:10 when we were kids? 00:01:23:10 - 00:01:25:07 I don't remember ever going to. 00:01:25:07 - 00:01:26:02 I feel like it was either 00:01:26:02 - 00:01:27:07 you went to the doctor. 00:01:27:07 - 00:01:27:17 Yeah. 00:01:27:17 - 00:01:30:09 You went to the ER or the hospital. 00:01:30:09 - 00:01:32:06 And that was it. Did we have them? 00:01:32:06 - 00:01:32:14 You know, 00:01:32:14 - 00:01:33:11 I think we had them, 00:01:33:11 - 00:01:34:10 but they have, 00:01:34:10 - 00:01:36:12 have become such a different thing 00:01:36:12 - 00:01:37:23 and such sort of a necessary 00:01:37:23 - 00:01:39:21 part of health care for us now. Okay. 00:01:39:21 - 00:01:40:20 Just because, you 00:01:40:20 - 00:01:42:18 know, health care is really complicated. 00:01:42:18 - 00:01:43:14 It's impacted. 00:01:43:14 - 00:01:45:15 It's hard to get in to see your doctor. 00:01:45:15 - 00:01:47:14 I mean, I remember my pediatrician's name 00:01:47:14 - 00:01:48:16 and going there all the time 00:01:48:16 - 00:01:50:15 when I had problems, fell off a bike, 00:01:50:15 - 00:01:51:16 did something like that. 00:01:51:16 - 00:01:53:13 And, you know, we still have, 00:01:53:13 - 00:01:54:03 you know, hopefully 00:01:54:03 - 00:01:55:18 a lot of people, great relationships 00:01:55:18 - 00:01:57:03 with their primary doctor. Right. 00:01:57:03 - 00:01:58:11 But sometimes you need to get seen 00:01:58:11 - 00:01:59:12 kind of like right away. 00:01:59:12 - 00:02:01:00 And that's where we fit into 00:02:01:00 - 00:02:02:23 that gap of we’re available. 00:02:02:23 - 00:02:03:19 We're here to see you 00:02:03:19 - 00:02:04:17 and we're kind of here to help you 00:02:04:17 - 00:02:05:19 right then. Yeah. 00:02:05:19 - 00:02:06:18 So like, 00:02:06:18 - 00:02:07:18 I'm going to throw a couple scenarios. 00:02:07:18 - 00:02:09:00 Let's say someone has, 00:02:09:00 - 00:02:09:16 you know, you're like, oh, 00:02:09:16 - 00:02:10:18 my chest feels tight. 00:02:10:18 - 00:02:11:09 Where do they go? 00:02:11:09 - 00:02:12:12 Where would you recommend? 00:02:12:12 - 00:02:13:09 Yeah. Chest. 00:02:13:09 - 00:02:14:11 So there are a couple things 00:02:14:11 - 00:02:15:15 that you don't want to mess around with 00:02:15:15 - 00:02:16:16 Okay. Talk to me about them. 00:02:16:16 - 00:02:17:08 Your heart. 00:02:17:08 - 00:02:18:06 You don't want to mess around 00:02:18:06 - 00:02:18:17 with your heart. 00:02:18:17 - 00:02:20:18 So if you're feeling chest pressure, 00:02:20:18 - 00:02:22:06 I can't catch my breath. 00:02:22:06 - 00:02:24:01 Maybe in my 50s or 60s, 00:02:24:01 - 00:02:26:22 I started a new cycling activity program 00:02:26:22 - 00:02:27:17 and now I'm having 00:02:27:17 - 00:02:29:00 a lot of chest discomfort. 00:02:29:00 - 00:02:29:11 You got to go 00:02:29:11 - 00:02:30:08 to the emergency department. 00:02:30:08 - 00:02:31:21 That's not something to mess around with. 00:02:31:21 - 00:02:33:06 Okay, 00:02:33:08 - 00:02:34:02 other things you don't 00:02:34:02 - 00:02:34:18 want to mess around with 00:02:34:18 - 00:02:36:13 is your head, right? Your brain. 00:02:36:13 - 00:02:37:20 If you had a big trauma 00:02:37:20 - 00:02:39:12 and smacked your head and passed out, 00:02:39:12 - 00:02:40:15 that's not something that you want 00:02:40:15 - 00:02:41:14 to take chances with. 00:02:41:14 - 00:02:43:14 So that's an emergency department visit. Got It. 00:02:43:14 - 00:02:46:05 Or especially like stroke like symptoms. 00:02:46:05 - 00:02:48:15 So my speech isn't what it normally is. 00:02:48:15 - 00:02:50:01 I'm having a hard time with my hand 00:02:50:01 - 00:02:51:15 and my leg on the side. 00:02:51:15 - 00:02:54:02 I just can't think clearly. 00:02:54:02 - 00:02:55:08 Those are things where for sure. 00:02:55:08 - 00:02:56:15 Emergency department all the way. 00:02:56:15 - 00:02:57:00 All right, 00:02:57:00 - 00:02:58:18 so let's say I'm hiking Runyon 00:02:58:18 - 00:02:59:07 and I 00:02:59:07 - 00:03:00:09 fall, and I 00:03:00:09 - 00:03:01:18 have a pretty considerable 00:03:01:18 - 00:03:03:10 gash on my leg. 00:03:03:10 - 00:03:04:02 And it's like, oh, 00:03:04:02 - 00:03:05:04 that's I'm not going to put 00:03:05:04 - 00:03:06:01 a Band-Aid on that. 00:03:06:01 - 00:03:07:22 Yeah. I need someone to look at that. 00:03:07:22 - 00:03:09:05 Yeah I think that Band-Aids 00:03:09:05 - 00:03:10:14 not the right choice. Right, right. 00:03:10:14 - 00:03:11:21 So which is what is. 00:03:11:21 - 00:03:13:22 Yeah I mean the urgent care can do 00:03:13:22 - 00:03:16:04 tons of stuff. Definitely including that. 00:03:16:04 - 00:03:17:16 So if you need stitches, 00:03:17:16 - 00:03:19:01 if you need X-rays, 00:03:19:01 - 00:03:20:01 maybe you broke a bone 00:03:20:01 - 00:03:21:06 and you need to have a splint. 00:03:21:06 - 00:03:22:02 All those kind of things 00:03:22:02 - 00:03:23:01 we can do in the urgent care. 00:03:23:01 - 00:03:23:21 No problem. 00:03:23:21 - 00:03:25:20 Much easier to get in and out of there, 00:03:25:20 - 00:03:26:12 than it would be in 00:03:26:12 - 00:03:29:10 an emergency department. Do people, 00:03:29:12 - 00:03:30:10 typically like, 00:03:30:10 - 00:03:31:03 do people pick 00:03:31:03 - 00:03:32:07 go to the wrong place, like, 00:03:32:07 - 00:03:33:16 let's say cold and flu season? 00:03:33:16 - 00:03:34:03 Yeah. Right. 00:03:34:03 - 00:03:34:21 Like if you're like, oh, 00:03:34:21 - 00:03:35:21 I think I might have the flu. 00:03:35:21 - 00:03:37:15 I should go to the E.R.. Yeah. 00:11:41:19 - 00:11:42:21 And you know, like I said, no 00:11:42:21 - 00:11:43:04 two days 00:11:43:04 - 00:11:44:09 in the emergency department are the same. 00:11:44:09 - 00:11:45:07 So you really don't know 00:11:45:07 - 00:11:47:03 what you're going to get. 00:11:47:03 - 00:11:48:12 And, you know, maybe first 00:11:48:12 - 00:11:49:21 and foremost is just bringing an open 00:11:49:21 - 00:11:51:13 mind, understanding that no matter 00:11:51:13 - 00:11:53:22 what kind of issue that you're having, 00:11:53:22 - 00:11:55:10 we're having ambulances. 00:11:55:10 - 00:11:56:08 All these things come in 00:11:56:08 - 00:11:58:00 with people that need help. 00:11:58:00 - 00:11:59:14 We do not want to make you wait 00:11:59:14 - 00:12:00:17 or make you uncomfortable, 00:12:00:17 - 00:12:02:07 but we're oftentimes doing the best 00:12:02:07 - 00:12:04:05 we can with the resources that we have. 00:12:04:05 - 00:12:06:11 So having a little bit of 00:12:06:11 - 00:12:07:09 of understanding 00:12:07:09 - 00:12:09:08 that it's a complicated, dynamic 00:12:09:08 - 00:12:10:02 kind of a place is 00:12:10:02 - 00:12:11:05 one of the biggest things. 00:12:11:05 - 00:12:13:04 From a more practical sense, 00:12:13:04 - 00:12:14:01 I would say a phone 00:12:14:01 - 00:12:15:15 charger helps a lot, like 00:12:15:15 - 00:12:16:22 especially if you wind up 00:12:16:22 - 00:12:18:08 needing to call your family 00:12:18:08 - 00:12:19:11 or you need help with something 00:12:19:11 - 00:12:20:12 and then your phone is dead. 00:12:20:12 - 00:12:21:22 Most people don't have all those phone 00:12:21:22 - 00:12:24:00 numbers memorized, these days anymore. 00:12:24:00 - 00:12:24:19 So that's a big one 00:12:24:19 - 00:12:27:06 that's helpful to bring. 00:12:27:08 - 00:12:28:12 Outside of that sometimes. 00:12:28:12 - 00:12:30:03 Something to do a good book. Yeah. 00:12:30:03 - 00:12:31:19 Cozy up in the corner, 00:12:31:19 - 00:12:32:04 you know, 00:12:32:04 - 00:12:33:11 and be able to charge your phone up. 00:12:33:11 - 00:12:35:07 And those things that can go a long way. 00:12:35:07 - 00:12:35:19 Yeah. 00:12:35:19 - 00:12:36:12 But most of all, 00:12:36:12 - 00:12:37:15 I think just understanding 00:12:37:15 - 00:12:38:18 that we're going to try and get you 00:12:38:18 - 00:12:39:08 where you need to go 00:12:39:08 - 00:12:40:05 as quickly as we can, 00:12:40:05 - 00:12:41:03 and hopefully that's home. 00:12:41:03 - 00:12:42:00 And if it's not, you know, 00:12:42:00 - 00:12:44:12 we'll get you into the hospital. Yeah. 00:12:44:12 - 00:12:45:20 We'll wrap on this final, 00:12:45:20 - 00:12:48:04 final thing here.
