About Nena Niessen

Nena Niessen was born in Nicaragua. Her cooking experience began when she was 12 years old. By the age of 14, she was already considered an accomplished chef in her mother's kitchen, using fresh, healthful ingredients.

As a cancer survivor, she has learned the importance of our diets being more alkaline than acidic in nature. She learned how important it is to take matters of diet and health in our own hands by educating ourselves and learning to cook healthy meals. Niessen believes that we all need to change our diets and habits for ourselves and our families.

Certified in plant-based nutrition from Cornell University, she is the author of the cookbook Cures from the Kitchen.
