Dr. Ranjan Gupta is a board-certified UCI Health orthopedic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery, including microsurgery, and nerve injuries.

Gupta earned his medical degree at Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y., followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery and a National Institutes of Health post-doctoral research fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He received fellowship training in hand surgery and microsurgery at UCLA School of Medicine, followed by a the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a hand surgery/trauma/shoulder fellowship at the University of Berne in Switzerland.

His clinical studies seek to improve treatment of distal radius fractures and distal radioulnar joint instability. He also is investigating altered kinematics after shoulder arthoplasty at the Orthopaedic Biomechanics Laboratory at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System.

Gupta is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Orthopaedic Research Society, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the Society for Neuroscience and Orthopaedics Overseas.
