Dr. Cathy J. Tang is a board-certified UCI Health plastic surgeon who specializes in hand surgery and microvascular surgery. Her areas of clinical expertise also include breast surgery, cancer and trauma reconstruction, transgender surgery, body-contouring surgery and free tissue transfer.
She earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed a residency in general medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine, a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
Her research interests include peripheral nerve, targeted muscle reinnervation, Dupuytren’s contracture, microvascular surgery, endoscopic procedures, arthritis and trauma. An assistant professor in the UCI School of Medicine’s Department of Plastic Surgery, she directs the department’s medical student clerkship program.
Tang, who is fluent in Mandarin, sees patients in Orange, Costa Mesa, Tustin and Yorba Linda.
