Dr. Kapil Mishra is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist with fellowship training in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and ocular oncology. His clinical interests include medical retinal and surgical diseases, intraocular tumors and ocular side effects from systemic chemotherapy. A trained ocular oncology specialist, he created the plaque brachytherapy program for uveal melanoma in coordination with colleagues at the UCI School of Medicine's Department of Radiation Oncology.

Mishra earned his medical degree at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md., followed by a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, Calif. He was selected to return to the Wilmer Eye Institute as the Assistant Chief of Service and Director of Ocular Trauma.

In addition to caring for patients with vitreoretinal disorders, Mishra also teaches medical students, residents and fellows. He conducts research on surgical devices and techniques, as well as vitreoretinal diseases and oncological diseases.
