Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain is chronic pain in the lower abdomen and groin. It may continue, even after a surgical procedure to correct it.

This pain can be debilitating and negatively impact everything from exercise and sexual activity to movement in your everyday activities.

Some causes of this type of pain include trauma, nerve injury, infection and inflammation. Our pain management specialists understand your condition and offer state-of-the-art treatments for conditions that cause pain in the groin and pelvis.

Inguinal neuralgia

This common cause of abdominal and groin pain is due to nerve irritation. Structures that cause this pain include the ilioinguinal, genitofemoral, and iliohypogastric nerves. This can be due to post surgical scarring, hernias, and inflammation or nerve root compression. This pain can be described as sharp and knife-like and is located in the lower abdominal region. It may also include the scrotum or vagina.

Groin pain

There are many causes of pain in the male and female genitalia. A few examples include trauma, anatomical variations and inflammation. The pain can either be dull or sharp, and it might be located in one area or scattered throughout a region. Groin pain tends to significantly interfere with work, social activities and mobility.
