Blood Drop

UCI Health and Angels Baseball are concluding their summer blood drive with two new prizes to be raffled to donors at either one of the final two blood drives on Aug. 30 or Sept. 4 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

Raffle winners will receive an opportunity to designate a child to be named Honorary Bat Kid before the Angels’ Sept. 25 game against the Seattle Mariners or get a chance to go watch batting practice on the field before the game. Both prizes come with four tickets to the game.

The Honorary Bat Kid prize is available to a child ages 6 to 14 and includes an Angels jersey, a personal autograph session with players in the dugout and recognition on the stadium’s Jumbotron screen before the game. This opportunity is not normally available to the public. Parents/guardians must remain in the stands while the child is in the dugout. An Angels representative will accompany the child at all times.

The Angels’ On Field Experience prize includes a private behind-the-scenes stadium tour for four people and permits them to go on the field to watch batting practice before the game.

All other donors will get vouchers that can be exchanged at the stadium box office for two tickets to a future Angels game, pending ticket availability.

Blood drives will take place in UC Irvine Medical Center’s bloodmobile, which will be parked near the stadium ticket office and the giant red Angels caps from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Aug. 30 and Sept. 4. Donors will contribute to meeting the need for blood at Orange County’s only Level I trauma center.

Donors must be at least 17 years old and may give blood only once every 56 days. They should be able to spend 45 minutes or so at the stadium on the day they donate.

After donating blood, participants can walk over to the ticket booth and exchange their vouchers for game tickets. The Angels have set aside certain sections from which to choose seats. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday when the Angels are out of town or not playing and until the seventh inning on game days.
