UCI Health Pacific Breast Care Center designated as Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

UCI Health is pleased to announce that UCI Health Pacific Breast Care Center has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The designation recognizes centers that have achieved high practice standards, including imaging excellence and staff expertise, and have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound (including ultrasound guided breast biopsy), and MRI.
“We take pride in delivering the most comprehensive breast health services in Orange County, “ said Freddie Combs, MD, UCI Health radiologist and medical director of the Pacific Breast Care Center. “This designation reflects the high quality care we give to our patients each and every day. “
The Pacific Breast Care Center offers extensive services including:
- Breast imaging, including 3D screening and diagnostic mammograms, high-resolution ultrasound and MRI exams.
- Breast biopsies, guided by the latest imaging technologies, including tomosynthesis-3D biopsy, MRI and ultrasound-guided biopsies.
- Breast surgery and reconstruction
- Computer-based risk assessment for all patients
- Breast density assessments for all mammogram patients
- High-risk genetic testing and counseling
“We have the region’s most up-to-date MRI software, and use the latest surgical location devices to more precisely tag tumors before surgery, said Combs, an associate clinical professor in radiological sciences at the UCI School of Medicine. “With advanced tools, and world-class technicians, our screening and diagnostic abilities make us leaders in Orange County.”
