When you face a serious illness, accurate imaging helps your care team make the right decisions.
UCI Health radiologists interpret scans and collaborate with your physicians to guide diagnosis and treatment.
Our approach to radiology
Medical imaging is an important part of diagnosing disease and guiding treatment decisions.
At UCI Health, our radiologists use the most advanced imaging technology to help physicians across the health system diagnose disease and plan treatment.
We offer a full range of imaging services, from routine X-rays to advanced MRI, CT and PET scans.
Understanding your imaging results
Your clinician may recommend an imaging study to better understand your symptoms or evaluate a condition.
Radiologists carefully analyze these images and provide detailed reports that help physicians:
- Confirm diagnoses
- Determine disease severity
- Guide treatment planning
- Monitor how treatments are working
Collaborative imaging care
Radiologists work closely with specialists across UCI Health to interpret imaging and guide care decisions.
Our team regularly collaborates with:
- Oncologists
- Surgeons
- Radiation oncologists
- Cardiologists
- Neurologists
- Genetic counselors
This collaboration helps ensure imaging results translate into effective treatment plans.
Women’s imaging
Early detection plays a critical role in breast cancer outcomes.
UCI Health offers advanced breast imaging, including 3D mammography, which allows radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer.
This technology improves breast cancer detection and reduces unnecessary follow-up testing.
Abdominal imaging
Our abdominal imaging specialists diagnose diseases affecting the liver, pancreas and digestive organs.
Imaging may include:
- CT scans of the abdomen and pelvis
- MRI of abdominal organs
- CT or MR angiography
- Fluoroscopic imaging of digestive and urinary systems
These tools help detect disease early and guide complex treatments such as uterine fibroid treatment, virtual colonoscopies and transplants.
Interventional radiology
Some radiologists also perform image-guided treatments.
Through our interventional radiology program, physicians use advanced imaging and minimally invasive tools to treat conditions without open surgery.
These procedures may include tumor ablation, embolization and angioplasty.
