"The Doctors" highlights UCI Health study of botox to treat migraines in children

IN THE NEWS: The nationally syndicated medical talk show “The Doctors” highlights a clinical trial in which UCI Health anesthesiologist Shalini Shah, MD, uses Botox to alleviate the symptoms of migraine in children:

Kids and Botox? This might seem like an unlikely combination and The Doctors explain why children as young as 8 are getting injected.

Researchers at the University of California Irvine have been injecting kids with Botox to treat chronic migraine headaches. The study, which is the first of its kind, has found that Botox has helped minimize the effects of the painful headaches in kids.

The researchers have found that the frequency, duration, and intensity of their migraines decreased with the injections in their study.
