Milestones babies reach at two months of age
At this stage, infants begin their interactions with the world

IN THE NEWS: At first, babies are bundles of joy that do little more than eat, sleep and cry. Before long, though, their first interactions with the world will begin.
At two months of age, your baby is more social than they were at birth, UCI Health pediatrician Dr. Melitza J. Cobham-Browne tells Parents magazine.
“Your two-month-old baby will become more interactive and will smile to the sound of your voice. Your baby will be able to focus on your face and on close objects. They can also follow you with their eyes if you move.”
Cobham-Browne is the pediatrics medical director at the UCI Health Family Health Center. She is chief of the Division of General Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at UCI School of Medicine. She is also the vice chair of primary care pediatrics in the department.
She has been named a Physician of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association since 2020.
