IN THE NEWS: The UCI Health Eye Mobile for Children as been roaming throughout Orange County since 2015, detecting treatable eye problems in preschool and elementary school students.
Iliana Molina, the program’s director, talks about how such vision issues are often missed with Fountain Valley Living Magazine.
“Standard eye charts in pediatrician offices do not always detect astigmatism and amblyopia.”
Also, she says, children often have no idea there’s a problem with their vision.
“They’ve seen the world this way their entire lives – they don’t know any different.”
The Eye Mobile for Children is dedicated to delivering effective, efficient, high-quality vision care services to the children of Orange County with integrity and accountability, using both proven and innovative methods.
The service is provided at no cost to the school districts and is primarily funded through donor support.
