Dr. Matthew Whealon is a board-certified UCI Health general surgeon who specializes in colorectal surgery. His clinical interests include the minimally invasive treatment of colon and rectal diseases, including colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulitis, as well as pilonidal disease and anorectal disorders.
He earned his medical degree at the UCI School of Medicine, followed by a residency in general surgery at UCI Medical Center. where he served as chief resident and completed a research fellowship in surgery. Next, he completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Medicine Health System in Philadelphia.
Whealon is a co-author on a number of research papers published in major journals.
He sees patients at Gottschalk Medical Plaza in Irvine.
