Transtelephonic Monitoring

Transtelephonic monitoring, also known as an event recorder, is a pager-sized device that allows patients to record their arrhythmias as they happen. The readings are sent by telephone for analysis.

If your electrocardiogram (EKG) doesn't give your physician enough information, you may be asked to wear an event recorder for a day or two, during which the device will record all of your heartbeats.

By wearing a device for an extended period, irregularities in your heartbeat can be more easily detected.
