Maguire to give keynote speech at international stuttering conference

Dr. Gerald Maguire
, founder and director of UC Irvine's Kirkup Center for the Medical Treatment of Stuttering, will give a keynote address Saturday, May 21, at the 9th World Congress for People Who Stutter, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Recognized as an international leader in the field, he recently published a book, Without Hesitation: Speaking to the Silence & the Science of Stuttering
, that explores the medical condition from an insider's perspective. The Kirkup Center is currently the only facility in the world devoted exclusively to pharmacologic treatment of stuttering and is heading a nationwide clinical trial of the first medication developed specifically to treat stuttering.
