Dr. Roshan Patel is a board-eligible urological surgeon who specializes in kidney diseases and disorders. He directs UCI Health kidney stone services.
His clinical interests include minimally invasive kidney stone surgery, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, robot-assisted and laparascopic kidney surgery, as well as kidney cryoablation and endourology.
Patel earned his medical degree at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. He completed a residency in urology at Boston Medical Center and a fellowship in endourology at UCI Medical Center.
Patel’s research interests include outcomes-based studies of minimally invasive surgery for kidney cancer. He also is evaluating the methodology used in percutaneous surgery for large kidney stones with a goal of improving patient outcomes. In addition, he actively leads projects to evaluate new technology that may change the way endourology surgery is practiced.
Patel has published almost 50 research manuscripts and book chapters, developed several patents and has received numerous awards from international societies. He joined the UCI School of Medicine’s Department of Urology in 2016 and leads its endourology service.
Patel sees patients at UCI Health Newport — Birch Street Urology in Newport Beach and at UCI Health Center for Urological Care in Orange.
