Transition to Adulthood
Preparing for adulthood can feel overwhelming — but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Join us for the Transition to Adulthood Workshop Series, a free, monthly online class designed for parents and caregivers of youth ages 13+, as well as young adult self-advocates.
Each 90-minute session features presentations by expert community partners on key topics that support a successful transition to adult life such as:
- Practical guidance on preparing youth with disabilities for adulthood
- Insights into legal options like conservatorship, supported decision-making, and healthcare directives
- Step-by-step support for navigating IPP meetings and person-centered planning
- Resources for employment, day programs, and continuing education
- Tools to help families organize critical documents and plans
- Strategies for addressing social-emotional challenges like loneliness and isolation
- Presentations by knowledgeable community partners and advocacy organizations
- Opportunities to ask questions and connect with local resources
Thanks to generous support from the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS), all sessions are completely free and held virtually on Zoom.
