Cardiothoracic Surgery
surgical simulation, Mechanical circulatory support, Minimally invasive cardiac surgery
Dr. Fabio Sagebin is a UCI Health cardiothoracic surgeon who specializes in advanced heart failure and mechanical circulatory support, including the use of durable left ventricular assist devices (LVADs). He also is experienced in minimally invasive cardiac surgery and has trained in pioneering approaches to minimally invasive implantation of LVADs. Sagebin earned his medical degree at NYU School of Medicine in New York. He completed a residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center’s integrated program in cardiac and thoracic surgery, with an emphasis on mechanical circulatory support and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Sagebin has published research on complex management of high-risk heart failure patients and expedited minimally invasive implantation of LVADs in patients with cardiogenic shock. He also has collaborated with leaders in 3D printing to develop high-fidelity simulation models for cardiac surgery.
He sees patients at the UCI Health Cardiovascular Center in Orange.
