Study Description

The purpose of this research study is to find out whether metformin, an FDA-approved medication for

diabetes, can be safely used and tolerated in people with pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) caused by

appendiceal mucinous tumors.

This study is being done because current treatments for recurrent or unresectable PMP are limited, and

early laboratory research suggests that PMP tumors may respond to drugs that affect cellular

metabolism, such as metformin.

Metformin is considered investigational for the treatment of PMP.
