Alden F. Smith, MD
Otolaryngology
Dr. Alden F. Smith is a board-certified UCI Health otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon. With fellowship-training in laryngology, he is an expert in treating voice, breathing, and swallowing disorders of the upper aerodigestive tract.
Smith treats many conditions including vocal fold paralysis, benign and malignant vocal fold tumors, Zenker's diverticulum, retrograde cricopharyngeal dysfunction (R-CPD), laryngeal dystonia (spasmodic dysphonia) and upper airway stenosis. He employs many minimally invasive techniques in outpatient procedures including vocal fold injections, laser surgery and laryngeal Botox. As a musician and singer, he also enjoys working with professional voice users such as singers, actors, teachers and lawyers.
He earned his medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He completed an internship and a residency in head and neck surgery at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in laryngology at Stanford University.
Smith has presented at numerous national conferences and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Voice and Laryngoscope.
