Alireza Ghoreifi, MD

Dr. Alireza Ghoreifi is an assistant professor of clinical urology at UC Irvine School of Medicine and a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of urologic cancers. His clinical practice focuses on urologic oncology, with particular expertise in bladder, upper tract urothelial, testicular, kidney, prostate and penile cancers. He specializes in open, robotic and laparoscopic surgery, as well as multidisciplinary care for patients with urologic malignancies.
Ghoreifi earned his medical degree from Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences in Bandar Abbas, Iran, and completed his urology residency at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in Mashhad, Iran. He subsequently served as an assistant professor of urology at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences for four years. He then completed an advanced research fellowship in urologic oncology at the USC Institute of Urology and a Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) clinical fellowship at Duke University, where he received specialized training in the management of urologic cancers.
Ghoreifi is an active clinician-scientist whose research focuses on improving the diagnosis and treatment of urologic cancers, with particular interests in bladder cancer, upper tract urothelial carcinoma, testicular cancer and advanced kidney cancer. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at national and international scientific meetings. His work has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Grand Prize from the Western Section of the American Urological Association in 2022 and the AUA Research Scholar Award in 2024.

Bladder cancer: transurethral resection of bladder tumor (TURBT), bladder preservation and intravesical therapy, radical cystectomy with urinary diversion (ileal conduit and neobladder); Upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC); Testicular cancer: survivorship planning, retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND); Kidney cancer: robotic and open partial/radical nephrectomy for complex renal masses.
