He earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, N.Y. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the VA Hospital and Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
