He completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Southern California/LAC+USC Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center and a fellowship in transplant hepatology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Medical Center.
