Genevieve M. Crane, MD, PhD

Dr. Genevieve (Eve) M. Crane is a board-certified UCI Health pathologist who specializes in hematopathology. Crane is the Director of Flow Cytometry and Professor of Clinical Pathology at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.

Crane received a B.S. summa cum laude in chemical engineering from Rice University, an M.Phil. from University College London as a British Marshall Scholar and MD and PhD degrees from the University of Michigan through the Medical Scientist Training Program, with her PhD work focusing on stem cell biology. She completed postdoctoral work at MIT in cancer biology, before completing a residency in anatomic pathology and fellowship training in hematopathology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.

She specializes in the diagnosis of lymphomas, leukemias, plasma cell neoplasms and other benign and malignant disorders of the hematolymphoid system, including diseases involving lymph nodes, extranodal tissues, bone marrow and peripheral blood. She has particular expertise in lymphomas arising in the setting of immunodeficiency or dysfunction and is interested in mechanisms of tumor initiation, particularly mechanisms by which viral or metabolic changes may lower the threshold for lymphomagenesis.
