Jaclyn C. Watkins, MD

Dr. Jaclyn C. Watkins is a board-certified UCI Health pathologist who specializes in gynecologic and placental pathology. She is a professor of Clinical Pathology at UC Irvine School of Medicine, where she also serves as the Chief of Anatomic Pathology. Her clinical expertise includes benign and malignant diseases of the female genital tract, with particular expertise in vulvar neoplasia, HPV-independent vulvar squamous lesions, endometrial neoplasia, ovarian tumors and diagnostically challenging gynecologic pathology. She also specializes in placental and obstetrical pathology, including the evaluation of placental abnormalities and pregnancy complications.

Watkins earned her medical degree at the UC San Francisco. She completed residency training in anatomic pathology as well as fellowship training in women’s and perinatal pathology and surgical pathology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Her academic expertise centers on gynecologic pathology, particularly HPV-independent vulvar neoplasia, as well as placental pathology. She has published extensively on vulvar precursor lesions, endometrial neoplasia, ovarian tumors, and placental disease. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally, and she has contributed to multiple books, including chapters in the World Health Organization Classification of Tumours, Female Genital Tumours, 6th Edition.
