Junru Yan, MD

Dr. Junru Yan is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in cataract, cornea, complex anterior segment and refractive surgery.

She earned her bachelor of arts in biological sciences from Northwestern University, graduating magna cum laude, and her doctor of medicine from Baylor College of Medicine, where she was elected to the Junior Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed a preliminary year in medicine and surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and an ophthalmology residency at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute, followed by a fellowship in cornea, complex anterior segment and refractive surgery at the UCI Gavin Herbert Eye Institute.

Her clinical and research interests include corneal transplantation and ocular surface disease — including neurotrophic keratitis and limbal stem cell deficiency. She is interested in advanced techniques in anterior segment and refractive surgery, such as femtosecond laser-assisted keratoplasty and complex intraocular lens fixation.
