Mona Mojtahedzadeh, MD, FACLP

Dr. Mona Mojtahedzadeh is a double board-certified UCI Health psychiatrist and the director for psycho-oncology.
 
She earned her medical degree from Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in Tehran, Iran. She completed a residency in psychiatry at Texas Tech University Health Sciences in El Paso, followed by a residency in psychiatry at Loma Linda University Health. She then completed a fellowship in consultation liaison psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, followed by a fellowship from Integrative Psychiatry Institute. Her clinical interests include integrative psychiatric care of patients with cancer and other complex medical illnesses, with a particular focus on culturally diverse and marginalized populations. 

She brings a strong foundation in psycho-oncology including prior faculty roles at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the Simms/Mann–UCLA Centre for Integrative Oncology, where she contributed to clinical care, education and interdisciplinary collaborations. Her expertise is further enriched by a strong background in global health and the care of underserved populations and asylum seekers, developed through years of general clinical practice and humanitarian work as a physician before specializing in psychiatry. She is committed to integrating holistic, evidence-based and meaning-centered individualized psychiatric care into complex medical settings, helping patients and families navigate the emotional dimensions of cancer and other serious illnesses and improving healthcare outcomes.
