She earned her medical degree from Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in Tehran, Iran. She completed a residency in psychiatry at Texas Tech University Health Sciences in El Paso, followed by a residency in psychiatry at Loma Linda University Health. Next, she completed a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
