Dr. Robert I. Fearn is a gastroenterologist and clinical faculty at the UCI Department of Medicine and Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute. He has been practicing in the field for more than 20 years and specializes in inflammatory bowel disease, human nutrition and the management of gastrointestinal issues in athletes.
His extensive sports medicine experience includes work with Olympic and professional sports. Services include detailed diagnostic and physiological assessment, determination of nutritional/ fueling requirements and personalized management tailored to the individual.
Fearn received his medical degree from the University of Leeds, England. He completed his postgraduate training and advanced fellowships in London and Cambridge. He received a master's degree in sports and exercise medicine from the University of Bath in England. He has active clinical research programs in human nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease and the impact of intense and long duration exercise on the gastrointestinal tract.
