Sandy T. Liu, MD

Dr. Sandy Liu is a board-certified UCI Health medical oncologist who specializes in the treatment of genitourinary malignancies, including prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancers. She is dedicated to advancing the field of genitourinary oncology through innovative clinical research, multidisciplinary collaboration and the delivery of personalized, evidence-based cancer care.
Liu's clinical expertise focuses on the management of advanced genitourinary cancers, with particular interests in immunotherapy, theranostics, biomarker-driven precision oncology and novel therapeutic approaches for patients with complex or treatment-resistant disease. She is actively involved in the development and conduct of clinical trials, with the goal of expanding access to promising therapies and accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes.
She earned her medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
As a clinical investigator, Liu has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is committed to advancing the science of genitourinary oncology through clinical and translational research. As a dedicated educator, she enjoys mentoring medical students, residents and fellows, emphasizing thoughtful clinical reasoning, evidence-based medicine and the integration of emerging scientific advances into patient care. She is passionate about fostering intellectual curiosity and preparing the next generation of oncologists to deliver exceptional, compassionate care.
Liu believes that outstanding cancer care extends beyond treating disease—it requires understanding each patient's goals, values and individual journey. She partners closely with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate the latest advances in cancer therapy while prioritizing quality of life. Her philosophy is to care for every patient with the same compassion, respect and dedication she would offer her own family.
Outside of medicine, Liu enjoys traveling, staying active at the gym and spending quality time with her three children.
