Sankalp Sehgal, MD

Dr. Sankalp Sehgal is a board-certified UCI Health cardiac anesthesiologist who specializes in anesthesia for complex cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgeries and advanced echocardiography.

He currently serves as Director of Strategic Development in the Department of Anesthesiology at University of California, Irvine, where he provides leadership in the development and optimization of administrative and clinical protocols, workflows and systems.

After completing his fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center–Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 2014, he has held a variety of clinical and educational leadership positions at prestigious academic medical centers, including Vice Chair of Clinical Affairs and Associate Vice Chief of Education. Through these roles, he has developed extensive expertise in clinical operations, systems management, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative educational initiatives, with a strong focus on delivering the highest standards of patient-centered care.

Sehgal is deeply committed to academic excellence, as reflected in his award-winning original research and clinical trials. His research interests include perioperative outcomes in cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia, as well as advanced echocardiography. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology and the National Board of Echocardiography.
