Shannon S. Zhang, MS, MD

Dr. Shannon Zhang is a UCI Health hematologist and medical oncologist devoted to providing high quality, evidence-based and compassionate care to her patients. 

A San Diego native, Zhang earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the UC San Diego, where she studied cancer immunotherapy and graduated with a Research Scholar Award. She earned her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson, graduating with a Distinction in Research and Distinction in Community Service while receiving the division award for outstanding medical student in hematology and oncology. She completed her internal medicine residency and hematology/oncology fellowship training at the UC Irvine. 

During training, Zhang authored more than 20 publications in lung cancer, head and neck cancer and colorectal cancer. She has presented her work at national conferences including International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, American College of Physicians, and Society of General Internal Medicine. Outside of medicine, she enjoys trying new cooking and baking recipes, traveling with her husband, and Pilates.
