Dr. Soonho H. Kwon is a board-certified UCI Health endocrinologist and Health Sciences Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the UC Irvine School of Medicine.

He specializes in thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, osteoporosis and general endocrinology. He has extensive experience performing thyroid ultrasound and ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy and evaluating patients with complex thyroid conditions.

Kwon received his medical degree and master’s degree in medicine from Hanyang University College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Elizabeth medical center in Ohio, followed by an endocrinology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Before joining UCI Health, Kwon served as a Professor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he directed the Thyroid Procedure Clinic and Endocrinology Telehealth Program. His clinical and academic interests focus on the evaluation and treatment of thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, parathyroid disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other endocrine disorders.
