Dr. Andrew W. Browne is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmology specialist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration and other disorders of the retina and vitreous.
Browne received a medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Ohio, where he also earned a PhD in electrical and computer engineering. He completed an internal medicine internship at CHA Cambridge Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School in Boston, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he developed an interest in diseases of the retina, inflammatory diseases of the eye and ophthalmic tumors.
Next, he completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery with an emphasis on uveitis the Cleveland Clinic Cole Eye Institute in Ohio.
Browne’s research interests involve radiation retinopathy, solar and phototoxic retinopathy, retinal organoids and developing intraocular technologies for surgery and disease management. His papers have appeared in such publications as the Journal of Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, Brachytherapy, Retina and Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science.
He sees patients in Irvine and Orange.
