Dr. Daniela A. Bota is a UCI Health neuro-oncologist who specializes in the treatment of primary and metastatic brain and spinal cord tumors, as well as in the neurological complications of cancers.

She earned her medical degree at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She completed a residency in neurology at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, followed by a fellowship in neuro-oncology at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, N.C.

Bota's academic research and clinical practice focus on innovative treatments for brain malignancies. She currently serves as a principal investigator for numerous studies including novel glioblastoma stem-cell targeted chemotherapy agents, cellular immunotherapy studies and wearable devices. She consults for multiple companies involved in developing drugs, cellular therapies and devices for human use. In support of these efforts, Bota’s translational research lab investigates potential therapies for malignant gliomas.

She also serves as vice dean for Clinical Research at the UCI School of Medicine and director of the UCI Alpha Stem Cell Clinic.
