Dr. Huawei Dong is a board-certified UCI Health pulmonologist and critical care physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of interstitial lung diseases.

As the leader of the interstitial lung disease team, her clinical focus includes the management of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung disease with other causes, such as autoimmune diseases. She works closely with specialists in pulmonary hypertension, rheumatology, cardiology and thoracic surgery to provide the most comprehensive care for patients with interstitial lung disease. 

Dong earned her medical degree at Dartmouth University's Geisel School of Medicine in Hanover, N.H. She completed an internal medicine residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she served as chief resident. She received fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Mass.

She is actively involved in clinical trials to study novel treatments for pulmonary fibrosis. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and she has made presentations at national conferences.
