Dr. Wei Ling Lau is a board-certified UCI Health nephrologist who specializes in the treatment of kidney diseases and kidney dialysis. Her clinical interests include the management of chronic kidney disease, high blood pressure, kidney stones and electrolyte disturbances.

She earned her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. She completed an internal medicine resident at the UCI School of Medicine and returned to the University of Washington to complete a fellowship in nephrology.

Lau is actively researching phosphorus overload and cardiovascular disease, which contributes to a high rate of heart failure in patients with chronic kidney disease. She also studies the mechanisms that contribute to blood-vessel calcification. Her work has been published in high-impact nephrology journals and she has been recognized with a top poster award at the National Kidney Foundation’s annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
