Catherine Y. Zhu, MD

Dr. Catherine Zhu is a board-certified UCI Health surgeon who specializes in colon and rectal diseases, including colorectal cancer, anal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis and benign anorectal conditions.

She earned her medical degree from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in New York. She completed a residency in general surgery at UCLA, followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Minnesota.

She specializes in minimally-invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery, in the treatment of colorectal diseases. She is an author or co-author of multiple peer-reviewed papers, published in journals such as JAMA Surgery, JAMA Oncology and Annals of Surgical Oncology.
