Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and Ambulatory Care FAQs

UCI Health, Orange County’s only academic health system, is pleased to announce the opening of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and Ambulatory Care building at the UCI Health – Irvine medical campus, located at 19208 Jamboree Rd in Irvine, on Tuesday July 16, 2024.

The new center is a state-of-the-art medical facility that advances the UCI Health commitment to provide convenient access to the region’s leading specialty cancer care services. As a patient who receives care at UCI Medical Center in Orange or one of the many outpatient sites across Orange County, you may choose to receive services at our new location. We look forward to continuing to meet your healthcare needs.

Many patients receive more than one service at a UCI Health outpatient office, including infusion, radiation oncology and imaging.

Q: Can I receive treatments such as infusions, follow-ups, and surveillance imaging at the new center?
A: Patients may transition their care to the new center in Irvine in collaboration with their physician and oncology team. Please call 714-456-8000 for questions or send a message to your provider team via MyChart

Q: Will my current physician be relocating full-time to the new center?
A: Most physicians will not be moving to the new center full-time and may continue to see patients at their current locations.

Q: I’m currently receiving infusion treatments in Orange. Can I transfer my care to Irvine?
A: Patients are encouraged to receive treatments at the location deemed most appropriate by themselves and their physician. Please note that the Irvine cancer center does not currently accept CalOptima and Medi-Cal insurance.

Q. Why am I being billed for facility and professional fees when I only saw the doctor and I wasn’t billed a facility fee before?
A. The new Center for Advanced Care is licensed as a hospital-based clinic. In California, hospitals with licensed clinics must bill separately for hospital services and physician services.
