Hundreds attend burn survivors picnic

Each summer, the UC Irvine Regional Burn Center holds a picnic for burn survivors. Hundreds of former patients and their families attended this year’s picnic at the UC Irvine Medical Center on July 14.
The burn center annually treats more than half of Orange County’s burn injuries, including the most traumatic ones. Unfortunately, many of those are injuries to children and UC Irvine takes great care to treat the physical as well as the emotional damage the patients and their families face. The burn survivor’s picnic in addition to a regular support group and counseling are part of that effort.
