July 11, 2011
UCI Health physicians are among the recipients of the University of California Center for Health Quality & Innovation’s inaugural round of grants.
Critical care specialist Dr. Elizabeth Turner was awarded $50,000 to—along with Dr. Chris Fox and Dr. Mark Rosen—implement an educational program on the bedside use of handheld ultrasound. And Drs. Alpesh Amin, Mayil Krishnam and Mark Langdorf are part of grant-supported, UC-wide clinical research efforts to improve patient care integration, prevent blood clots and optimize CT usage.
The Center for Health Quality & Innovation aims to improve patient care while decreasing costs, one of the key goals of healthcare reform. Overall, nine grants totaling about $3.4 million were awarded to UC faculty and staff.
