Meyskens says cancer research on life support

Dr. Frank L. Meyskens makes the case that proposed federal cuts endanger funding for cancer research in an Orange County Register commentary. Meyskens is director of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at UC Irvine Medical Center and a cancer researcher.
Meyskens says “there has been an amazing acceleration in the rate of advancement against the 200 diseases we call cancer, reaching back 40 years when Republicans and Democrats came together to focus the country’s attention on the vital need to beat cancer as soon as possible. [S]uch government-supported work is a vital investment that will pay off in lives saved.”
