Laugh and learn with fellow IBD patients

October 08, 2012
Comedian Ben Morrison will discuss life with Crohn’s Disease.

UCI Health invites people with inflammatory bowel disease to the 6th Annual IBD Patient Education Conference “Live Healthy, Laugh Loud” on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 in Winifred Smith Hall on the UC Irvine campus.

Presented by the UC Irvine’s H.H. Chao Comprehensive Digestive Diseases Center in association with the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, Greater LA/OC Chapter, the half-day conference is designed to educate the IBD patient community about new developments in treatment, surgical techniques, complementary and alternative therapies, research and psychosocial issues relating to IBD. The symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Local clinicians and IBD experts will present the latest in IBD science and treatment during lectures and panel discussions about topics such as nutrition, prevention, medical and surgical treatment, and art therapy.

Entertainment will be provided by special guest Ben Morrison, a Los Angeles-based comedian and Crohn’s patient and advocate. Ben is famous for his one-man “Pain in the A**” show—a comedy act about the humbling and sometimes humiliating journey of living with Crohn’s disease.

The $10 registration fee includes parking, light breakfast and refreshments.
