Treating children with chronic pain

UCI Health webinar - Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. PST

September 17, 2014

Often, children experiencing chronic pain are taken from specialist to specialist, receiving few answers about the cause or what can be done to relieve it. Frequently, children in pain are referred to physicians who specialize in adult pain and have little or no training in pediatric pain management.

In the webinar, pediatric pain specialist Dr. Shalini S. Shah talks about effective ways to diagnose common pain issues in children and new approaches for alleviating their chronic pain. She answers questions from parents and physicians about how to treat children suffering from chronic pain disorders such as cancer pain, headache, low back pain, abdominal pain and spasticity.

A graduate of Harvard Medical School's pediatric pain fellowship, Dr. Shah is one of the only pediatric pain experts in Southern California. Her goal is to reduce pain so children and their families can reclaim their lives and live their full potential.
