UCI Health improves cancer screening by pairing colonoscopies with AI technology

IN THE NEWS: CBS News highlights UCI Health gastroenterologist Dr. William Karnes and his development of an artificial intelligence application designed to improve colon cancer screenings.

The technology uses AI to increase the likelihood gastroenterologists will catch pre-cancerous polyps during regular colonoscopies. Colon cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, yet it is largely preventable through screenings such as colonoscopy.
