Ahmed S. Alsayed, MBBS
Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery - Hand Surgery
Dr. Ahmed S. Alsayed is a board-certified UCI Health plastic surgeon.
After earning his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Khartoum, Sudan, he completed five years of general surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, followed by three years of plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at The Ohio State University. After eight years of residency training, he pursued further sub-specialization in hand surgery.
He completed a hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received advanced training in upper extremity reconstruction and transplantation. Hand surgery first appealed to him because of its complexity, fine anatomy, and the significant impact surgical intervention can have on a patient's quality of life. His clinical and academic interests include the breadth of hand and peripheral nerve surgery, microsurgical reconstruction, vascularized composite allotransplantation, and orthoplastic management of complex extremity needs.
He is committed to delivering compassionate, individualized care while utilizing the latest evidence-based techniques to restore function, alleviate pain, and improve his patients' quality of life. He believes that successful reconstructive surgery extends beyond technical excellence, emphasizing thorough patient education, shared decision-making, and long-term partnerships throughout recovery. His goal is to help patients regain independence and return to the activities that matter most to them through innovative, patient-centered care.
